Amberton is set on a wooded hillside in the area of Porlock known as Hawkcombe and both our guest rooms have stunning views over the village to the sea from their private decks.
The amenities of the village centre are some 7/8 minutes walk along Parsons Street which has many delightful old cottages and is bordered by Hawkcombe Water.
Since Amberton is a split level house our own accommodation is on the upper two floors and our guest rooms are both on the ground floor and just a few yards level walk from the upper section of our driveway.
We have parking for several cars and the house is centrally heated and double glazed.
There is a sizeable area just inside the front door where guests can hang their coats and leave their wet or muddy boots to dry by the radiator before they venture out again.
Over the years we have stayed in many hotels and B&B's and we developed a preference for those with a very relaxed atmosphere and which allowed us to come and go as we pleased and not be tied to set times for meals etc.
This enabled us to choose to enjoy lazy or more active days depending on our mood when we woke up and also on the weather conditions.
We tried to model our guest accommodation at Amberton on these principles when we opened in April 2010 and to give our guests complete flexibility to choose what they would prefer to do on any given day.
After all you are on holiday!!
We look forward to welcoming you to Amberton and whether you come for complete relaxation or a more active break we hope you will enjoy Exmoor and our village of Porlock as much as we do.
